Hear what the students had to say about their experience at the COSAC homeless shelter in their own words. (For the extended video with thoughts from each student, scroll to the bottom of the page.)

Every few days, the COSAC Outreach Program goes around to the homeless in the area and brings them food, clothing, water, and cigarettes. The mental heath counselor and the registered nurse on board the shelter’s ambulance also bandage up any wounds and encourage people to come back to the shelter for a place to sleep. Four students took a trip during Labor Day weekend and watched the team bring back eight people to the shelter.

In April, 2009, when the first Will Write for Food program took over the COSAC shelter in Hollywood, COSAC residents Shawn Anderson and Crystal Vogelsang got married. Since then, resident and Minister Ronald Simmons gives an update on the “happy couple.”

Students from the 2010 Will Write for Food program share their thoughts after a weekend at COSAC homeless shelter (full video).
